Hargreaves Lansdown biometrics

I've been with HL for many years and have had little to complain about until now. I use the app and have been logging using my fingerprint for nearly all that time. Then on the 24th Sept it stopped accepting my biometrics and I cannot turn if back on via the app or website. I have phoned twice and emailed their tech support but to no effect. I was told on the last call that some users may be having problems with biometrics but no progress update or recognition of my email. Very poor. Perhaps it's time to move.

I have never had to use biometrics for HL, maybe this is a setting on your smartphone and not HL?

If you haven't already - uninstall and reinstall the app.

I have the App on a Samsung tablet running Android 13 using finger print biometrics with no issues.

Have you checked whether the app needs updating?

Uninstalling and reinstalling might also be an option.

In the meantime if can you get into the app via the alternative password login option, once in go into settings to make sure 'use fingerprint to login' radio button has not been switched off.

What phone brand, model and operating system ?

Biometric login is a phone function, older OS have security weaknesses discovered, so apps disable biometrics on those.

The issue doesn't lie with the finance organisation.

I have an older IPhone, and I do find with certain apps, the face ID is disabled occasionally for no obvious reason and I have to sign in manually and then enable face ID again. I assumed it was the apps, as it always the same ones, but I know also the phone is needing an upgrade soon.
