Scotland:House Insurance after death of occupier
My sister recently passed. We have no idea who the house not contents, insurance was with. Do we just start an empty property insurance until estate is finalised? We are also having to apply for Executors-Dative, then confirmation.
Thanx in advance

Sorry for your loss
Many insurers will allow you to see the current term out and change the name of the insured to the Estate of. If thats a good idea or not will depend on what their empty property clauses are. Presumably she didnt have any joint bank accounts so if she is paying by monthly DD that policy will get cancelled for non-payment without action but if she pays annually then it will run to term.
You could just buy an unoccupied property insurance policy but that could result in claims delays if the original policy is still running at the same time0 -
we don't know and have been unable to find out the current insurer
