Amazon Barclaycard online banking login
Hi,
Could anyone please confirm whether it's possible (or not) to to log in to Barclaycard online banking without use of the mobile app?
To access online banking currently I enter my customer number (online) and then receive a notification in the Barclaycard App on my phone which I approve and then I can view my account online.
I asked customer services and the agent simply kept repeating that Amazon Barclaycard is "App-Only", yet I have an email from Barclaycard saying that I have been registered for online banking and stating my customer number, and as said above I can log in and view my account.
Clicking on "log-in without the app" (or something similar) leads to a page talking about an 8-digit Identification code, provided either from PINsentry in the App, or with a card reader. I used a card reader from another bank to get an 8-digit Identification code from my Amazon Barclaycard, but there's no obvious place to enter it online.
So it seems to me all a bit half-baked. If there's a way to log in without the app I would be pleased to hear about it. Thanks!

You need to be quite specific here, Barclays shut down their dedicated Barclaycard online portal in June, their Barclays (bank) portal remains active and there is some Barclaycard functionality there but full access is now via the Barclaycard app.
Confusingly, the barclaycard.co.uk portal remains active and gives login access prompts, but doesn't accept any of my (valid) details (card number, customer number).
Have you tried accessing the Barclays website (barclays.co.uk) with your credentials?
Do you have an issue with using the app?

Barclaycard online portal is still working for me — though it does now declare in large bold info box Your Barclaycard online servicing is closing on 11th November
That directs one to use the app, to which I've succumbed and installed in the last few days. I've not (yet) registered for the online banking to access Barclaycard via my laptop, though - so can't actually help the OP with that side of things.

Hi,
I see, there are two sites.
barclaycard.co.uk wants a Username or ID number, which I seem to have neither, or a 16-digit Card Number to which mine is unrecognised.
barclays.co.uk accepts either Membership number, Card number or Account number (Step 1). All of these do work for me, and land on a page to send a Notification to the phone App (Step 2).
If I can within 2 minutes - open the Barclaycard phone App, enter my 5-digit passcode, touch on Notifications, touch on Confirm, and re-enter my 5-digit passcode - then the online site from the above automatically proceeds to my account page from where I'm able to manage the account, view balance, transactions, and download statements, etc.
Step 2 also has a link to "Log in without using our app", which leads to a page asking "Please confirm your ID to login", without anywhere to enter a code. Afaict this means getting an 8-digit ID code either from 'PINsentry' within the App (but mine doesn't have it), or a physical card reader. I was able to get an 8-digit ID from a card reader (not Barclays) but in any case the online site isn't offering me anywhere to put this.
The issue is I'm trying to work out if the App is strictly needed to view my account online.

Back in the mists of time, there were separate Barclays and Barclaycard apps.
Eventually the two apps merged, and you only needed one to access Barclays+Barclaycard
Until (insert variable period of time between June 2026 and November 2026) there were separate Barclays and Barclaycard online banking websites.
As a Barclays+Barclaycard customer I used to use the respective websites (I could access Barclaycard via Barclays, but until some time between 2024 and 2026 you had to go through a pointless second login).
The Barclaycard website is being progressively shuttered, my access ended in September.
If you aren't a Barclays customer, you may be able to login via the Barclays website to access Barclaycard.
If you can't, consider opening a sacrificial current account elsewhere and do a current account switch to get yourself a Barclays current account+switching bribe, and then wait for them to realise your Barclaycard and Barclays accounts are linked…

They seem.to.be pushing the app...
Features and benefits of your Amazon Barclaycard
This is an app-first account
You’ll need the Barclays or Barclaycard app* to activate, use and manage your account. You can also manage some parts of your account in Barclays Online Banking on your laptop or desktop PC.⁴

I'm not seeing the same screens as you when I use my Surname/Cardnumber as the login method.
I'm also presented with an obvious screen to enter code from a card reader.
Are you registered for online banking at Barclays?
And again, is there an issue that makes using the app problematic?

Perhaps you have a Barclays bank account? Or perhaps you have a non-Amazon Barclaycard?
Are you registered for online banking at Barclays?
Not that I specifically requested. I received an email from Barclaycard saying "We’ve registered you for Barclays Online Banking" together with a Customer Number. I can log in and view my card account online albeit requiring the app as an intermediate step.
And again, is there an issue that makes using the app problematic?
Yes. Certainly as it stands is unworkable, 2 minutes being barely enough to complete what it asks (and too long for such a simple task). Not to mention other reasons.
A card reader would be perfect.

You are half right, I do have a Barclays current account but only an Amazon Barclaycard.
Might explain the different screens being presented to each of us.
I do wonder if the functionality that you might require (if online access can be achieved) is actually available or if the required functions are app-only. Is there anything specific that I might check for?
It would seem that using the Barclaycard app is not an option.

My only Barclays branded product is the Amazon BC and I just tried the Barclays.co.uk web portal and app auth way in and it worked a treat on my lap top, not so sure it would work so well using the same device for both. Clicking on "logging in without using our app" went to a dead end with no options for using a card reader etc.

Given that the Amazon Barclaycard terms say that you MUST have the app to activate the card, maybe the thinking is that any online access will only be given when authorised by that app (unless you have other Barclays products with legacy access methods).
