New Cleaning Job

Options
Hello to all who read this, and apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I've recently comitted to a new contract cleaning job, and it will be my responsibility to purchase cleaning materials.

I would love to this in an eco friendly way, and I don't mean buying everything from ecover!

If anyone has any green, moneysaving cleaning tips, it would be lovely to hear from you! :A

Thanks in anticipation!

A bit more information is needed, are you fully responsible for the cleaning materials or do you just buy them on behalf of the company. i.e. you are paid to clean, and what you use is up to you as you are paying for it out of your own money.

Also what will you be cleaning?

    Sorry. I'm so dense sometimes:

I will be cleaning holiday cottages/flats/houses after tourists have been to visit, so general housework really.

I will have to initially buy all cleaning products, although all expenses will be refunded to me at the end of the calender month. I will however have full flexibility as to what I use, as long as everything is nice and clean, although I think that trying to do this as economically as possibe would be best.

This is an additional responsibility on top of my current job, but hopefully it will be worth my while!

    Thanks!

Good, I was worried you would say you were cleaning a catering establishment that would want proof what you use is strong enough to kill all known germs etc.

As Teeny said, vinegar cleans just about everything, including descalling toilets. The only thing I have for cleaning is washing up liquid and stardrops, plus a bottle of vinegar.

I find a microfibre cloth and just water cleans a lot of things, but don't buy an eco cloth as they are just microfibre cloths with inflated prices.

Also look at the money saving old style board, they have loads of tips on cleaning in there.

normal malt vinegar hmmmmm??????? sounds smelly though. Would there be any way to neutralise the smell side of it? Using air fresheners would be kind of against the point methinks! :D

No, the smell goes away very quickly and I use brown malt vinegar. Not long ago I bought a little bottle of tea tree oil, for something different, but I put a few drops in the vinegar bottle I use as fabric softner and it killed the smell of the vinegar instantly. You could use a different, better smelling essential oil if you are worried about the smell.
