Mediation Report - Civil Enforcement - settled at £40
Recently assisted a work colleague with PCN which he disputed. Background:
He was at an appointment, it over-ran and he was late back to the carpark. So he pays via the phoneline system to cover the extra hours - the parking company took a nominal payment of 0.01p out of his bank (there was an error with their payment system). He called them up and disputed the PCN and offered to pay the outstanding balance of £5. They carte blanche refused and went down the usual route. He asked me for assistance and I was happy to help.
He had the mediation phone call at work, it went from them wanting £255 (i think) going down, he was offering a fiver as that was his offer. After a lot of back and forth. he settled at their Final "Final Offer" of £40 - I told him to stand firm, but he didn't want the "hassle of court" - so he paid them £40, of which £35 of which would be the Money Claim Fee! I can't remember the legal firm used.t They should of just taken the fiver when he offered it first time round.
