EToro £75 shares offer - where are they?

I signed up for the Etoro £75 free shares offer using the MSE link, reached a page with a Claim your free shares link and created my account. Funded my account with the required £200.00. But no evidence of any choice of any free shares or any free shares at all.

The Chatbot advises that the £75 of free shares will only be credited after 90 days! NOT "(Almost) straight away" as claimed by MSE.

Anyone else ay experience of this?

Yes, exactly the same except the chat assistant didn’t have a clue about the promotion and kept asking for screenshots from the etoro website to prove it exists. I withdrew the £200 and closed the account t.

Etoro still giving me the run-around, after almost a week, despite now seeming at least aware of the MSE free-shares promotion. Today they claimed that they had 30 days to credit the free shares - however I pointed out their own conditions say "within 7 days". They then said that the shares would be credited by c.o.b. tomorrow (I have no idea what shares they might be). I remain sceptical. Not a good start.

After several messages, Etoro now confirm I should have the £75 of shares. But they are still giving me the run-around. I'm now told that because they have to credit the shares manually (which is entirely their fault) it may take up to 15 business days!!!! Absolute rubbish - why should it take 15 days to credit £75 worth of shares? I have no faith in these idiots.

Like many others I took advantage of their previous 90 day free share offer in the summer. Most of us escaped with a healthy pay out from our free shares. The thread title asks 'where are they' and I'd suggest they are somewhere at the bottom of the list of providers. Their web site is attrocious but if you can put up with their shortcomings you should get out with more than you put in.

Thanks. I've got MSE on the case now too - they say they'll take further action if EToro haven't paid up within 14 days. I already use 4 other share trading platforms (IG, ii, Scottish Widows & Trading 212) - ALL of them better than the abysmal Etoro. Once I get my freebies, I'll be out as soon as I can. Glad I only had to risk £200.

    UPDATE

Finally got my shares credited by Etoro - 10 days since funding my account.

hi everyone. I had a look at this offer yesterday after receiving MSE newsletter. I’m a little concerned that it asks for your National Insurance number as you’re not a US citizen? Anyone else put their number in and been ok?

It’s normal to be asked for your NI number aka TIN* when signing up to brokers which offer US listed shares as it needs to be included on the W8-BEN form. If you don’t include it you might be refused an account.

It’s increasingly normal with non-Isa bank, brokerage and savings accounts as well because HMRC will soon require it to be included with interest submissions.

    *Tax Identification Number.

  • Thanks for the reassurance. I was very sceptical and didn’t proceed any further and closed the account without transferring any funds.

  • 2 weeks since I signed up and nothing. Just a lot of "we'll get back to you". Closing my account. They can keep the tuppence in interest my £200 earned them.
