Claim Form - ParkingEye (DCB Legal) - Issue Date 30/09/2026 - AoS Done
Hi all
For about 2 years now I have been receiving letters from Parking Eye / DCBL / DCB Legal about a parking charge they think I owe them. I didn't care to respond, complain or appeal and I am no longer in possession of any of those letters. However, I have recently received a claim form from HMCTS which I will link images of. From memory, it started at £100 (£60 if I paid within), then £170 and now all in with court fees and legal representative cost its about £280.
I have been reading through this forum and the newbies thread and think I have a decent understanding of what to do next but have some questions if that's okay. I just now (06/10/2026) submitted my AoS, and with a claim issue date of 30/09/2026, I presume I have till 02/11/2026 to submit my defence (Email or MCOL?).
For context, I was helping a family member run a Christmas show at a small shopping centre where the carpark was free if you input your registration number at the digital kiosk. Because it was 2 years ago, I honestly can't remember if I did enter my reg or not.
I am now trying to wrap my head around defence and my best options moving forward. I plan to use your ten-step defence template but am a bit unclear on whether to write out my own defence for paragraphs 2 and 3 or use the Chan and Akande template for those sections. Please could you advise, and if I am to write my own defence for those sections is this a good / okay place to give more context to my defence and send some drafts for feedback?
Thanks.
PS: I’m a newb at this so please forgive me.

MCOL only, in the defence box, copy, paste, save, submit, not email
Use the defence template paragraph 1 and 2, plus paragraphs 4 to 10
Add an ending to paragraph 2 if you want to, especially if you weren't driving
Use the Chan and Akande defence paragraph 3, but do not copy the spurious " at the end of it ( not allowed on MCOL )
10 paragraphs in total

Read any from last week. We had six. All the same. No extra draft wording even needed!
There is one above as a starter for ten, with a link in it to the fifth case last week, which in turn links the fourth one, etc. etc.

Much appreciated.
Just to clarify, is this the Chan and Akande paragraph 3 template? And is the beginning of that same post meant to attach onto the end of paragrpah 2?
Also, "save as set out below and to admit that they were the registered keeper." at the end of paragrpah 2 in the defence template doesnt seem to make much sense to me. Save what?
To be honest im not 100% clear on the stance of the current defence template even after reading it a few times, so would struggle to explain it or produce a similar and coherent defence in court if it came to that. Or should i just go with it and wait to see if it even gets to that point?
Sorry, I'm finding it really hard to navigate between threads and what have you, I know @Coupon-mad said the thread they linked, links to the next and the next etc but im struggling to find them. So struggling to clarify. Thanks for all the help.
You lot are doing God's work (if that's what you believe in).
Thanks again.

You'll never have a hearing so will never have to explain the defence.

You are correct. with an issue date of 30/09/26 and having completed the AoS in a timely manner your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 02/11/26

"Save as… " could also be read a "except that". Use Chan & Akande, use paragraph #1, adjust your paragraph #2 to say registered keeper only or registered keeper and driver (whichever is true). Then add the Chan & Akande paragraph #3 then paragraphs 4-10 - job done.
