DCBL Notice of Debt Recovery Letter help/advice

Hi everyone,

Apologies but having read through the guidelines already in the forum I am still non the wiser exactly what I need to do about this…

In short, I made a trip in my partners car (registered in her name) to London on 21/06/2026, pulled over at "Moto Reading East" services for a sleep, woke up drove off a while later.

We get a letter through this morning from DCBL telling her she has a fine of £170 to be paid.

The letter states at the start: "We previously wrote to you at a different address but did not receive a response…" That is because we moved home on May 8th and no letters were forwarded to us from previous address.

It says at the bottom "At this point you are no longer able to appeal the parking charge unless you have extenuating circumstances…" and threatens us with 14 days to pay or call them to discuss…

Please tell me what I need to do next - as I say the guidelines have made me even more confused!

Thanks in advance.

    Ignore them

    But

Ensure that her V5c log book is up to date

Use the DCBL app to update her address for the service of papers in the future

She should Email the DPO at the parking company, from their privacy page, and update them with her current address, with a copy of the current V5c as proof

Read post 4 in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum, regarding ignoring powerless debt collectors letters

First thing to do is to make sure that the address on the V5C is correct; this can be done online at DVLA, then inform the DPO of the parking company of your/partner's address for service, requiring them to ERASE the old data and inform any and all of their agents and sub-contractors of same.
