Confused by Ebays label system.
Hi folks,
I sold an item on Ebay, probably first item in over 20 years, well I thought I had signed up to an auction but anyway half an hour later the item was sold, so even though I didn't see a buy me now on my listing somehow (probably my fault) that's what it must have been. Got a good enough price for it anyway
Anyway now I'm confused about the prompts that Ebay are giving me to buy a label and pay £7.28 as I had asked for postage of £5.88 on listing And I can see that on the original listing. I have been told by Google Ai not to buy this label, it does say on Ebay that the cost for label will come out of my funds.
What Ai is saying is I will only get paid what the item sold for, and when I prompted it, Ai said that perhaps Ebays systems have not caught up yet.
Can someone enlighten me as to what is happening here please and what I need to do as I can't see any options to print a free QR code, it wants me to buy that label first,
Many thanks.

Look at the payment that came through from the purchase. Does it include the £5.88 postage stated? If so then the option to pay eBay for their version of postage is just an offer for you to buy through them. (to best of my knowledge as I am a business seller.)

Almost all private seller listings that are bigger than a letter default to simple delivery. When listing you choose buyer pays or seller pays and when the item sells eBay will prompt you 'get prepaid label'. If you sold under 'custom postage' you should just have the option to upload tracking details.
