Having time off in between jobs
Comments
-
I have always regretted it when I've moved straight from job to job without a break in between, which I've done a few times. Usually because I had a lengthy notice period and felt it was unfair on the new employer for me to take even more time on top of that before starting with them.
The first time I was made redundant, I decided to take a break before looking for a new job - ended up taking nearly 4 months where I did a bit of part time freelancing and pet sitting/dog walking to keep some money coming in while I had a think about what I wanted - that was over autumn/winter and by January I was very ready to get back to a fully indoor job again 😂, which thankfully I got within a couple of weeks.
But the job market currently is a different animal unless you have some very in-demand specialist skills. If you have a new job to go to already - absolutely take a break if you can.
