Hi there

I've tried to switch to Eon Next yesterday, however, I get this message appear when I try to do the final confirmation "Existing electricity meter-point has been billed past its SSD"

I got in touch with British Gas and they stated

The records are showing that the existing electricity meter point has already been billed beyond the date that E.ON Energy is attempting to take over the supply. As a result, the registration cannot currently be completed and the switch has been prevented from progressing.

This can occur when there is already a supplier registration, a recent switch activity, or where the industry records require updating before a new supplier can successfully register the supply.

At present, the issue will need to be reviewed and resolved before E.ON Energy can continue with the transfer of your electricity supply. Once the industry records have been corrected or any outstanding registration activity has been completed, the switch can be reassessed.

I used Google Gemini Pro to try and find a specific answer and got this:

This failure occurs because British Gas has logged a meter reading or billing date in the national electricity database (ECOES) that is later than the start date E.ON requested for your transfer. The central UK switching system automatically blocks the transfer to avoid double-billing or overlapping periods.

1.Contact British Gas to clear the database record:Only your current supplier can update ECOES industry records.

Call British Gas customer service or use their online messaging. Provide your account number and state:

"My switch to E.ON was rejected because industry records show the meter point is billed beyond E.ON's takeover date. Please correct or unblock the last billed date and reading in the national database (ECOES) so the transfer can proceed."

Has anyone else had this issue before? I was previously with Eon Next back in 2024 and when I switched to British Gas, I never had any problems with it going through.

Thanks.
