Address incorrect on energy database so cannot switch. How to resolve?

We’ve been with Octopus for around 5 years. In that time new flats have been built on our road with the same address but different postcode. When I try to get quotes for changing suppliers it seems the new ‘3 Hills view’ has stolen our place and is using our postcode on the database!

Please can anyone advise what I can do about this? Really confused!

The quotes won't care; you could use an address a couple of streets away and, so long as you enter your own consumption details, the results will be the same.

Once you've found a quote you like, you might have to phone the supplier rather than doing it through MSE or online.

  • this was on Fuse Website. The other address has taken our place and our postcode. I can’t go any further as our 120 year old address is now not on there!

You should check your correct address with the local council - their local land and property gazetteer is the definitive addressing database for your town - from which all other addressing databases are drawn. This database will have the UPRN for your property.

Once you have this definitive information you can then approach the body concerned to get their data corrected.

If you want to change supplier you call them and give your MPAN / MPRN number. I have to do that because my address on the national database is messed up.
