Trading 212 Account

I just signed up for a Trading 212 account, but I’ve already closed it.

I spent over 30 minutes trying to transfer money from my First Direct account and couldn’t get it sorted. I contacted customer support, but unfortunately I didn’t find them particularly helpful either.

I also found the website quite clunky and not very intuitive. When you’re potentially transferring a sizeable amount of savings, that doesn’t exactly fill you with confidence.

Maybe others have had a better experience, but it wasn’t for me. Account closed and I’ll look elsewhere.

No issues here. I've used open banking to pay in up to 5 figure sums without issue, but with bank transfers YMMV. They do have details you can use to set up a faster payment, but I've not explored that.

I only wanted to transfer a couple of grand at first, just to test the waters before moving anything substantial.

I linked it to my First Direct account, but it kept telling me my username was wrong when it definitely wasn’t. I then spent a couple of minutes dealing with the bot before getting through to customer chat, and they weren’t particularly helpful either.

I’m sure plenty of people have had no issues with it, but that experience didn’t exactly fill me with confidence about transferring over my life savings. I think I’ll just go with a First Active account instead.

Joined T212 couple of years ago, got the free share, happy with S&S ISA (no) fee structure, top up via Open Banking has never failed me, happy with the 1.5% debit card cashback on almost anything, competitive fx rate as well (better than Revolut Standard or Wise) on the debit card for spending abroad in foreign currency (with cashback)

Been fine for me to and from Lloyds. You can use a debit card fee free for the first few(?) thousand deposited. I've deposited euros and US dollars using the bank details and I've received immediate notifications that the deposits were received.

It sounds as if the issue could be with the username and/or password you used when setting up the account.

Jump through that hoop first, then it should be plain sailing ⛵️.

Been with them for a few years with no issues. ISA & GIA accounts.

4-5 figure transfers in GBP, EUR, USD from HSBC incl. Global Money & currency accounts, Wise, Nationwide and a Portuguese bank. No issues.

Have used them multiple times for currency conversion. In & out same day.

I have been with T212 for a while now and can’t fault them. For me one of the best platforms out there

T212 is a privately owned company with Ivan Ashminov and Borislav Nedialkov being the principals.

I would never put substantial funds in a company where should the directors go rogue (and I'm not suggesting for a moment that they would just that it has happened and could happen again), you lose all your money above FSCS limits.
