Hi all,
After BT wanted to charge me loads for connecting my phone line to my new rented property I spoke to The Phone Co-Op who are coming out to connect me on Friday and I'll be using them for line rental and calls. When I spoke to them I said can I still user internet providers who say they need a BT line to be able to let me use there broadband, I got told yes because they are using BT inferstructure.
Well I got given my telephone number the other day so I tried punching it into a couple of websites to see what they said and Tesco's said that the line wasn't a BT line or wasn't registered with BT. I tired with Tiscali and they said it was ok, but I didn't get as far with them before they wanted personal details.
Does any other phone co-op users use other providers for their broadband and do they have any problems?
Thanks in advance.

Its just a case of getting the numbers updated onto the BT database, you'll still be able to use different ADSL providers.
Might be worth a shot calling this BT Wholesale support desk which deals with end users who have 'tags on the line' issue. Call 0800 169 0934 and advise them that your current telephone number is showing up as 'black data' with any ISP you try to order from. They will check on their system and if they can sort it out there & then they will.
Hope the above is of some use0 -
Yes, thank you very much. :-)0

Hi! Phone Co-Op line rental user here.
I currently have broadband with Namesco and it works fine over Phone Co-Op line rental.
Any BT Wholesale based ADSL service should work via Phone Co-Op line rental. Any companies that rely on local loop unbundled services will not work - but they will generally insist on line rental being transferred to them too.
Some other suppliers could take you on but may choose not to - there is no technical reason preventing this, though.0 -

Thanks for this thread. I'm moving this weekend and hopefully I'll only be in my next place for a month or so (going to Oz for a year). I didn't fancy paying BT £70 when I left and would like broadband whilst I'm there too.0
