Assistance needed regarding a PCN

I’m sorry to ask for help but I’ve been looking for assistance among the threads and am getting very confused!
I just received a pcn for parking without displaying my blue badge. On this date we did park closely to the entry to McDonald’s in a disabled bay as I’m unwell and I needed to be sick. I jumped out the car and ran into the restaurant and returned back to the car about 4 mins later. My son was still in the car during this time. Usually we have the badge displayed but on the photo they sent with the fee it’s not showing. Is there anything I can do? I tried looking for a letter template to send them but can’t find any that seem relevant. I did read on the threads that this is in breach of the equality act but again can’t find any template letters with this included. Is someone able to assist me please as I’m getting stressed not knowing what to write back to them. Thanks in advance.

Do you need a template? Just write it from the heart explaining how their attitude makes you feel and enclose a redacted (of personal information) copy of blue badge. You could quote the equality act (look it up by asking Auntie Google) and explain that they are supposed to give consideration to blue badge holders.
You could also search the forum for posts by @Coupon-mad, she often goes to town against just this sort of situation.

Have you contacted the MacD's and asked them to get the invoice cancelled? Obviously they may be more willing to help if you are a regular customer of theirs.

@Brie thanks so much for that idea. I’ve called the store and will need to get back to them at 4pm when it’s quieter. Fingers crossed they should be able to help me.
@Le_Kirk thanks for the advice. If need be I will do that. I guess as I’m currently unwell it was stressing me out. Thanks for giving me the confidence to free hand a note though.
