My wife got this NTK yesterday.

To cut a long story short, we parked in a residents parking bay because we were due to stay at her Airbnb (through booking.com)

Unbeknown to us, she had cancelled it without informing us. It took an age before we could speak to her & then speak to customer services.

Obviously going to appeal it, but not sure exactly what information to send. If I send booking.com emails & messages to them with my name would that make them think i was the driver(I was) or am i over thinking things or does it matter. Many thanks

if i had known then what i know now

Its in the keepers name, so anything should be in that person's name at the moment

Too many redactions to give you anything else, but UKPC wont be interested in any stories or paperwork, or excuses, or mitigation , only legal reasons

You say, obviously we are going to appeal it , but why ? An appeal won't get it cancelled based on the information so far

I'm going to appeal because we had permission by the owner of the apartment we were supposed to be staying at to park in an allotted space as per our booking agreement.

Yes but the point made is that you don't have to appeal. With private parking, these 'charges' are merely invoices and it's not a limited choice 'pay or appeal' only.

You can just ignore it and let it sail to a DCB Legal claim, with no risk if defended, and which will end up discontinued at no cost and with no hearing.

Your appeal will see UKPC probably offer settlement at £20. Is that what you want?

    We wouldn't.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Then your dispute is with that owner

Too many redactions on both pictures, no breach , no issue date etc

As stated above, the advice is to ignore UKPC, not appeal, because UKPC won't cancel the pcn, regardless of your "appeal "

Must have misunderstood reading through the newbies thread. I thought it said first thing to do was appeal it using their appeals process. Thanks for putting me right

Of course you can appeal if you want to, but your explanation of what happened will not get them to cancel it.

Private parking companies exist to make money, they do not make money cancelling their charges, they don't own the land, they provide a free "service" to the landowner for the rake off in sending out after an event charges hoping people pay up.

You don't get a two stage appeal service from a plumber if he over charges you on his invoice.

The only reasons there is a sham appeal system set up is to make the industry look legitimate, satisfy a biased Cod of Practice, and because people are targeted with an out of the blue invoice they were not expecting.

First thing to do is Plan A, complain to the retail outlet, pub/restaurant owner etc, so, in thi case, complain to the Airbnb owner.

It says that the FIRST thing to do is plan A, complain to the landowner or landlord or business and get it cancelled

Plan B is to appeal, if you have a valid legal reason to dispute their invoice, so you can dispute it, or ignore it and fight a possible future court claim, but dont expect them to roll over easily. They have already decided that the driver is in breach of the rules on that private property. The proof being the pcn invoice that was received

You redacted the issue date and the reason for the pcn being issued ( possibly no permit , or vehicle not authorised. ? ) m he signage set out the parking contract with UKPC ( you have not mentioned the location or given us pictures of the contractual signs ) , and they believe that the terms and conditions weren't complied with , hence the pcn arriving in the post

You may feel hard done by, but the fact is that you are currently in dispute with both of them ( court being the final chapter, if they try enforcement. ) a court claim is easier to fight the charge, whatever the redactions say
