Barclaycard Interest Rate Change

Just a quick note to anyone on a high interest rate - I noticed my Platinum Barclaycard was 21.4% on my statement (after mistakenly believing it was about 14.9% which is bad enough). Phoned them up had a moan, lovely lady asked if I was intending on clearing it or spending more.

As I am paying off as much as possible and trying to get rid of it, she has crystallised the balance and put it at 6.9%. Quite a saving! (I can't currently get a new card for a cheap balance transfer but am paying this one off within the next 6 months anyway!)

So it just goes to show - never be afraid to ask (or have a moan!)

hi...well done...nice change to the rate...did crystallisation impose any actual restrictions if you don't mind me asking?

    thanks

Hi no not that I am aware. If I spend any more on the card then it's still at the stated 21.4% interest rate but I have absolutely NO intention of doing that!

It's actually at the same rate as my HSBC loan now, so I am really pleased that all my debt is currently as cheap as it can be! All I need to do now is get my head down, no going out for 6 months and get this blessed card paid off by September like I am aiming for and I will be a happy bunny! So easy to get in to debt, so hard to get out of!

Just waiting to hear about the bank charges test case now, that's a potential extra few hundred quid to pay off the card too! (not holding my breath though!)

How many people don't notice the interest rate hike or are too meek to phone up? It's scandalous that credit card companies can get away with this usury.

Barclaycard have brought out a new product called Barclaycard Freedom, I found this the other day.

    http://www.barclaycardfreedom.co.uk/index.html

for some reason it is not on the main Barclaycard website.
