Downgrading a Natwest reward to an everyday current account
Question please about downgrading a Natwest reward account.
Firstly if I downgrade to a Natwest everyday bank account can I still have a Digital regular saver? If not will this just close automatically and the contents transfer to the everyday current?
2ndly I've got £5 cashback pending which will probably not be available until after the changes on October 1st so assume that it would be better to wait for this to happen before I downgrade. At the moment its just got £2 odd which I cant do much with.
The Reward current needs 2 direct debits of at least £2 each to qualify for £4 cashback. The extra £1 for opening the app is going after October 1st so then it will be spend £4 get £2 back - some effort for only £12 extra per year. The cashback offers have never been of much use and I think I've only gained about £50 odd in the 2 years I've had the account.
It would be a good account to switch from with two DDs already in place but I've not qualified for any of the recent switching offers.

I've a Natwest Select CA (think this is their vanilla ordinary account) and a Digital Regular Saver account with no issues.

It is indeed, that was exactly what I opened for a switching bonus and to access the Digital Regular Saver (later upgraded to Reward.) There is a risk they could close the Digital Regular Saver if you switch the whole account out rather than just downgrading and leaving it.

Paying £2 to get £4 back still seems a better deal than paying nothing to get nothing.

Agreed, of course if you are manufacturing the direct debits (especially if they are costing money) I could understand coming to a different conclusion. All depends on what your overall setup is.
