Sneak peek at the new Competitions Time

What does "Closing Soonest" mean?
Does it mean closing in the next day, next two days or longer?
If it is longer then there will still need to be an option to select "Closing Soonest" and then "Date Closing"
For example if it is "Closing Soonest" in the next 7 days and there is no further sort option then there could be hundreds of competitions all in random order especially towards the end of the month.
Or will "Closing Soonest" automatically list competitions in date order?

HI,
'Closing Soonest is a Sort, not a Filter. So it does the exact same thing as the current -
Sort: Closing Date, but you can choose Soonest/Latest rather than have i just sort in one order.

Any chance of dailys having a separate tag? It would be good to filter by dailys, otherwise you're searching forever.
Oh... and advent!!!

Mag Daily and Daily Entry are both tags.
Is Advent necessary as they have their own Sub-Board?

I wouldn't want to add any more tags until the new Comps Time is launched. Once the tags are really prominent, I'm sure many more people will have opinions and that'd be the time to tweak them.
I don't know enough about how Compers use the Advent board to know if those comps could be integrated into the main board and just use a tag, or if they benefit from having a board of their own.

I agree with Boots that it doesn't seem necessary to have advent tags as they have their own sub-board. The posts are updated daily which means they would bump to the top often and may cause the main board to become messy and a bit chaotic.

We do have the ability to not have certain threads rise to the top on new reply, and we could give Ambassadors for the Comps board the ability to mark Advent threads as such.
it would just depend on whether there are benefits to having them on the same board.Join the MSE Forum

Hi everyone,
I've added a widget to this page to test out the format of Comps time with our real current Comps. It doesn't have the Entered/Closed or the E date yet:
Comps DraftOne thing that stands out is that if we do turn on excerpts, that format would really benefit from Compers front-loading their post with a brief description, and putting the link a little later so it doesn't take up space as plain text in the excerpt.
But that's for Compers to decide how they want to post and what format to recommend.

Thanks. I personally feel the excerpt is too much, too messy, and will be regularly be difficult to manage as people find the title difficult enough to get right! The title already does the heavy lifting of the prize.

As far as I am concerned, when we had "hovering" in the old forum, it was the url that I mostly wanted to see as this showed which site was running the comp. Then I did not need to click into posts for sites I preferred to avoid. As @cpjwins says, the Title should already be showing the prize details.
