Parkingeye PCN at Radisson Blu Stansted – 77-Second Overstay as a Paying Guest

xfusion1275

Weirdly, I got 2 miss calls from a mobile number whilst I was in a lengthy meeting today at work.

When picking up the voicemail it was the Radisson Blu hotel asking me to call them to discuss this matter further. So I did…..

Turns out that because POPLA has now been activated there isn't much both sides can do but the fine has been reduced to £60. I still kicked up a stink and dug in my heels.

Apparently, what the hotel is trying to work out now is, if I pay the £60 fine and then the hotel will refund that money back to me directly to my bank. They did try the credit route but it will be a while until I stay with that hotel again I reckon. I'm getting a call back tomorrow (25/09/26) to discuss things further and then get it in all in an email. Watch this space! but it could be a win for team-public 👍️

No, this is NOT true.

They only have to lean on ParkingEye again and they WILL cancel.

The Hotel is clueless and still letting the tail wag the dog. Say that. Tell them this:

It is NOT true that neither company can do anything after POPLA and it looks like their agent has lied to them to extract money that they could easily forego, and agree to waive as a gesture of goodwill for Radisson Blu.

POPLA is not only not binding on the public but it is also (effectively by statute law: the POFA 2012 schedule 4) free to the public.

ParkingEye cannot pass on the equivalent of a POPLA fee (which cost Parking Eye c£27) to a motorist.

This isn't lawful or correct.

ParkingEye CAN and DO cancel PCNs at any stage. They'll also accept £20 to cover admin to end it, have done in other cases.
