CARERS deductions and overpayments
My wife works part time and is a carer for me. Last year for 5 months she picked up a couple of extra shifts to cover someone's maternity leave which unknowingly put her over the limit to receive carers allowance.
I was looking over our UC statements to see when it would be payed off and noticed that for the months we are paying back, which would technically mean she never received Carers allowance for those months, the carers allowance payments are still deducted from our UC award as income.
I am not sure if im confusing myself but shouldn't we get the deductions recredited back to us since she has payed back the CA for those months?

Possibly.
CA would have created a debt within DWP systems and this is being deducted from UC.
For the same period of time, if CA was deducted from UC as other benefit income and now CA entitlement is zero, then the UC system should have calculated an underpayment for UC.
Please be aware that communications between different DWP benefits is not very good. You will have to contact UC and provide copies of letters from CA that show there was no CA entitlement between x date and y date. And as such an underpayment of UC should be due.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
