IFA
my IFA (who is also my son) decided that he no longer wants anything to do with me, do not know why, but in September 2025 he stopped managing my portfolio, which is with Quilter,
he did not inform me that he was going to do this, and I only found out this week, when I realised that there wa no advisor fees coming out.
i have to admit, my portfolio is still doing very well, but have decided as I know nothing about stocks and shares to transfer it to a Cash ISA
The point is that if he had been managing it would it have made more, so what do you advise I do.

Talk to your son.

It is highly unlikely that had he been “managing it” would have any significant difference to its current value. At worst you have missed one annual review and a portfolio rebalance.

rob: have tried unfortunately he lives 180miles away from me and is not communicating in any way,

Hold fire!
It is not a good idea to sell your portfolio and move to cash without getting advice, especially in these turbulent times and if you are still "doing very well".
If you cannot reconnect with your son, get financial advice elsewhere.1 -
i have decided to transfer to a cash ISA for two reasons, main one being I am 76 years old, and therefore do not really need growth, so a monthly interest cash ISA will give me a nice income to spend, the other reaon is my son is an only child, and will therefore inherit my money, unless I change my will and leave it to the cats home, so going to spend as much of it as I can in the years I have left.

If you have enough money / pension provision to not need growth then it sounds like finances are the least of your worries. I hope that whatever the story is between you and your son you manage to sort it out.

Why do you think this? Generally the less you play with investments the better they do.

Remember you can only put £20k new money into an ISA per financial year.
So if this portfolio is already in an ISA, don't just take the money out, because it loses its ISA status.
In that case you contact the company you want to transfer it to and let them handle it.
