How to work out "next available valuation point"
Good morning,
Looking to bed and ISA and minimise time out of market. I've already got the cash in my S&S so can execute the trades at the same time. However, I'm selling a fund (VAATTT) with Scottish Widows and buying ETF (FWRG) with T212. So I'm looking for valuation points for VAATTT; I'm guessing it's at the end of each trading day hence I sell on Monday morning, the trade will be executed on Tuesday so I should buy a bit before markets close on Tuesday?
Thanks for your help.

I don't know what VAATTT, but it looks like a Vanguard acronym. Most Vanguard funds have a valuation point at 21:00, so if you sell on Monday morning, you'll get the Monday 9pm value. The closest time to this is Monday 4:30pm, so it would be best to buy in the last half hour of trading.
Why FWRG rather than ACWI or VALL?

If "VAATTT" is a fund with significant American content, then a valuation point of 21:00 British time eg
Vanguard FTSE Developed World ex-UK Equity Index Accumulation Fund Price & Information
would include the American trading well after 4:30pm British time. Wouldn't it be better to buy the ETF first thing on Tuesday morning? That would be after Asian trading, but unless it's an Asian-focused fund, that's unlikely to be as much as the American portion.

There appears to be no such fund.

Good question. VALL is easy to answer as it wasn't around when I made the decision (It also has small cap tilt so I don't think it would have made my shortlist anyway). I think I picked FWRG over ACWI because it's slightly more diversified (in terms of higher % of global market). I'd be happy with either to be honest.
Indeed I got the letters jumbled sorry. SW calls it: VANGUARD INV FDS VANGUARD ESG SCRND DEV WLD (VVAAAT) - apologies for typo

FWRG has 2353 holdings, while ACWI has 2267. Both track the same index comprising 2458 holdings. The bottom 100 holdings represent around 0.01% of market cap, so you are talking 99.9% coverage (at a cost of 0.15%) vs 99.8% coverage (at a cost of 0.12%).
While VALL is more diversified than that and has an even lower fee. I don't believe it has any tilt, it just tracks an index that covers a wider range of market cap.
All these options are considerably more diversified than your existing developed world only fund filtered by ESG.

Indeed, hence why I'm switching fund as I bed and ISA.
Thanks for the info on the nuances between those 3.Just to confirm what's the valuation point for VVAAAT?

It's 9pm, like most of Vanguards other funds.

I sold VVAAAT at 9am on SW and bought FWRG at 4:30pm but T212 said it would complete the transaction when markets reopen in ~15h so don't think those timings worked! Not complaining - just want to learn for next year/also for info in case someone else is doing similar thing.

I did say "in the last half hour of trading". T212 doesn't place market orders straight away, so it can take a few minutes for an order to execute. If the market closes in the mean time, this can happen. First thing Tuesday is also a fairly close time point.

The market closes at 16.30 on the dot. It opens at 08.00.
