HM Courts & Tribunals Service Letter Advice
I know I know, this probably been on here a millions times!
My gf parked at a play centre with her newborn she went in and parking was meant to be free at the centre, but she didnt key her reg in.
So should she pay? Or go to court.
We emailed the manager at the venue and he tried to contact the parking fine scum but they declined. He said there plenty of signs around. But my gf thought it was automatic.

Neither !! ( Issue date 8th December, CEL claim )
The defendant should complete the AOS online stage ASAP on MCOL, to defend themselves
Then submit the Chan and Akande defence template in announcements ( no breach pleaded. )

Thank you for reply,
Would my gf have to go to court?0 -
Only if CEL take it to the wire and actually pay for a hearing in her local civil court, and dont discontinue

Do you know what chances is that, 50/50? or is there any on here that they did take to court?

With an issue date of 08/09/26 and providing you complete(d) the AoS before or on 27/09/26 your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 12/10/26

Its irrelevant, because the game has already kicked off and she must play along
The only thing that matters is the outcome and how much is at risk, its either £281 , or £212 , or £0 if they discontinue or she wins the case
Only CEL know if they will pay out £27 for the hearing, or not
My advice to the defendant is stop speculating about the future score, play both halves of the game and hope that the other side chuck in the towel before the final whistle, because if she doesn't then £281 is on the line
But with our assistance, hopefully she won't pay a penny!

She isn't going to a hearing. She won't lose. There is no risk. No CCJ, no costs and no court appearance.Even if we are wrong and she had a hearing in 2027 and lost (extremely rare) she'd pay less than the claim! It is a no-brainer to defend. And very easy.
CEL invariably discontinue defended claims just before hearings, so she merely uses the copy & paste Chan & Akande Defence (in the Template Defence thread, top of the forum) and follows our easy 8 steps.
Can you/she go get pictures of 3 things:
- the car park entrance sign(s) or lack of
- the t&cs sign in the car park itself
- the VRM tablet on the play area reception desk inside the building (NOT a close up, a damning set of photos showing how hidden or unremarkable the screen is).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
