Normally you can't do these switches if you have an account with the bank or in the same bank "family". I have a Halifax current account but I've started using it in the Lloyds app in advance of Halifax ending and I have the "Club Lloyds £200 offer" within the app.

So am I eligible for this £200 offer?

One point to note, a while back a friend referred me to Lloyds and get £50 which I got despite having my Halifax account. Then I switched the Lloyds account to Santander to get a switch bonus. So technically I don't have a Lloyds account, only a Halifax one. But I'm still surprised it's promoting the £200 switch in the Lloyds app (where I access my Halifax current account.).

It explicitly says that you can't get the switching bonus if you switch from Halifax or BOS accounts but excludes Lloyds from that statement. Can anyone see anything that would exclude Lloyds elsewhere? I know I'll need to open a new Lloyds account as well as the one I have already.

Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

So why is the offer showing in my Lloyds app. I guess it's different but similar to the one above.

I'm not. I have a Halifax current account which I access in the Lloyds app, in advance of them shutting down the Halifax brand and app. Why would they have a button once you log into the app that says Free £200 if you switch to Club Lloyds, and it lets you start the process if it's not valid? That's very misleading!!!

phil7445 Have you received a switching bonus from Lloyds, Halifax or BoS since 1st January 2023?

If not, then open a new Club Lloyds account and switch an account (with 3 active and paid Direct Debits) from a non-LBG bank into it.

The £50 you received was a refer a friend offer, not a switching bonus.

I was having a polite discussion about it with Lloyds online chat.

He said it's not valid for Halifax or Lloyds customers. I said he hasn't explained how illogical it is to have an offer promoted in the app, which I would only have if I had a Halifax or Lloyds account, and lets me click through to open the account, but it's not valid, and it's a very misleading promotion.

He then transferred me to a "complaints specialist" without any further comment! I'm waiting for them to reply!

Please note, I've been very polite. It's just very misleading and a bad promotion.

He said it's not valid for Halifax or Lloyds customers.

This is incorrect. Like a lot of chat agents, they have no idea and make up stuff to get rid of you.

The £200 switch bonus information and link has been removed from inside the app now! I put in a formal complaint about it, so maybe that prompted them to remove it. Awaiting a response to my complaint.
