Morning all

Dry and bright here but with a chill in the air.

Thanks for all the good wishes re mum, we got a call at 7 yesterday evening to say could we go and collect her, we had to say no as we needed to reinstate the district nurses and the carers so my BIL will go at lunchtime to collect her and make her some lunch, they gave us no explanation as to why she was so anemic so we hope to find out more today, she has had two units of blood so far, I hope they have found the cause of it to try and prevent it happening again.

I would have gone to collect her but I have a hospital appointment over an hour away with a specialist plastic surgeon to look at my compacted implant and talk through the options, I have been waiting months for the appointment, I am not sure what I will do yet but will have a better idea later hopefully.

Dinner tonight will be ham egg and chips nice and quick.

Morning everyone

Redruby that's ridiculous really that the hospital was going to send your mum home at that time, I hope she's ok when she gets home later.

Little one now has bright purple casts on her legs, complete with a white heart at the front of each….she is very impressed. She went back to school after the hospital, mainly because she wanted to go to lego after school club. They've been sore overnight, so DD is keeping her off today…it's PE this morning and swimming after lunch, both of which she can't do anyways. They were happy with her yesterday and these should be the last casts, so hopefully she'll be back to normal next week and walking properly.

TA I hope everything goes well for your DD today, it will be a long day waiting for news.

Best get a move on, I have a meeting with mam and dad and their social worker down at the care home this morning…when I told them about it on Sunday mam said 'well I'm not going to say I like it here'….it could be a long morning!

Morning all, thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons and welcome to @PocketCompass.

It's a lovely sunny autumn morning with bright blue skies but the threat of showers lingers for the afternoon (again) and it feels rather chilly with temperatures hovering around the 15 deg mark. Winter clothing is slowly making an appearance! 😁

I popped out yesterday for milk, washing up liquid and a TV guide; normally I'd use cash for such a small purchase but I have a new credit card and needed to activate it by chip & pin before I can use it as contactless. Could I remember the pin number? Could I heck! Anyway, sorted now so the next step is to change the card details on the SM website where I use it regularly; on any other websites I enter it manually rather than letting them store it. I'll do that later today and also add DS onto the electoral registration form that came through the letterbox at the weekend.

Last night's TV was interesting. I watched the Martin Lewis Money Show with its shocking energy price cap rise predictions (so glad I did an energy fix back in June) and then part 1 of the 70 Up documentary that makes for good social history - part 2 next week.

I've made a start on the living room winter curtains that are now draped over the banister to let the creases drop out before I hang them - I don't think they will need ironing.😃

At this time of year I usually do a small Xmas-themed cross stitch but, seeing as I have Aida fabric and silks galore in my stash, I'm not buying a kit; instead I've done a free download of just a chart. (This one) I'll sort out the appropriate colour silks (doesn't matter if they're not exact) and make a thread card for them.

More inroads into the freezer stash with tonight's dinner being fish pie so fish fillets and chopped leeks out as well as a pack of liver and some bacon bits defrosting for tomorrow. @IzzyBee - I did the reverse with my fridge/freezer when the old one gave up the ghost not long after DH passed away and got a smaller one but I don't think I've quite realised yet it doesn't have elastic sides! 😁
