ParkingEye / DCB Legal – Cambridge – Claim issued 11/09/2026

I have received a CNBC claim issued 11 September 2026. Claimant is ParkingEye and DCB Legal (our favourite) are acting. I intend to defend the whole claim and will complete the AOS on/after day 5.

The alleged event was 26/05/2024 (!!!!) at Cambridge Retail Park. ParkingEye's PCN recorded ANPR entry/exit totalling 4h24m against a four-hour maximum stay.

I appealed at the time and supplied evidence of a several-thousand pound purchase made at the retail park (which took time to decide on, hence the long stay). ParkingEye rejected the appeal and provided a POPLA code. I did not pursue POPLA.

The Particulars on the claim form merely say that the vehicle “remained on private property in breach of the displayed T&Cs”; they do not identify the four-hour term or expressly plead an overstay. They claim £170 for the PC/damages plus interest, court fee and legal costs.

I have read the current Template Defence and understand that DCB Legal/ParkingEye claims where the breach is not specified should use the linked Chan & Akande wording. I would appreciate confirmation that this is the right version for these Particulars, and views on the £70 addition and the interest pleading.

Separately I am pursuing cancellation with Railpen/JLL as landowner/managing agent.

Correct, use the Chan and Akande defence template

"and views on the £70 addition and the interest pleading."

No need for views on it. There's nothing to debate!

The template defence already tells the court that the £70 add-on is unlawful due to ParkingEye v Beavis, ParkingEye Somerfield and the POFA Schedule 4.

You should have complained to the site landowner or JLL at the time. Or the retailer. They'd probably have cancelled the scam PCN. I see it is being redeveloped for new retailers and the owners/developers, Railpen said it aims to "create a vibrant, sustainable destination" to give "visitors compelling reasons to return time and again".

Errr by letting ParkingEye sue paying customers?!

But no worries because DCB Legal always discontinue ParkingEye claims and are merely chancing their arm by preying on people's incorrect fears about costs (none) and CCJ risk (none) of defending a small claim.

It's a numbers game to 'extort money from motorists' as the last DLUHC Minister correctly stated in Feb 2022 This'll never reach a hearing.

But show us the PCN if you still have it, and the POC too.

With an issue date of 11/09/26 and providing you complete(d) the AoS before or on 30/09/26 your defence deadline date is 4.00 p.m. on 14/10/26

Now we've seen the POC, we can say that you can use Chan & Akande as the breach is not pleaded.

There's no need to wait to do the AOS. The deadlines remain the same, not that you should be delaying until day 33 anyway.

Always remember to abide by Space Corps Directive 39436175880932/B:
'All nations attending the conference are only allocated one parking space.'

@Coupon-mad I know (now!) 😂 At the time I honestly thought they wouldn't possibly waste their time chasing me after I provided the proof of purchases. But I guess I underestimate just how broken this system is and how abusive these companies can be.

But no worries because DCB Legal always discontinue ParkingEye claims […]

Yeah, they discontinued the Elite claim against me last minute as well. I'm one of the ~1,000 discontinuations tracked here.

But show us the PCN if you still have it, and the POC too.

Both are attached. Thanks for all the support and maintaining this great forum!

    Nice.

Usual rubbish. Usual Chan & Akande defence version will see it off before a hearing.

Could you screenshot where MCOL says this claim was discontinued please?

That should be enough evidence for @Umkomaas to count your success. Congrats!
