Using Clarity credit card abroad since change to Lloyds

I have a Halifax clarity card ( not changed to a Lloyds one yet), but the app on my phone has changed to Lloyds.

Just back from France and paid for the hotel with the card, and a few contactless purchases with no problems. However when I tried to pay for some train tickets online, the website referred me back to the app for approval ( as often happens with online purchases), but nothing appeared in the app at all, even after I tried a second time. I switched to a First Direct debit card and it also referred me back to the First Direct app, but this worked.

So a glitch in the Halifax- Lloyds changes ? Anybody else experienced this ?

Not directly related to your original post, but another issue I've encountered with the Halifax → Lloyds transition is that I cannot seem to access cashback offers on the Lloyds app.

I have the Halifax Clarity CC and occasionally make use of their cashback offers. However, the cashback section does not show up anywhere on the Lloyds app or online banking.

When I queried this with their customer service chat, they replied something along the lines of "Well, because it's a Halifax card, then you would only see the cashback menu on the Halifax app. It would not show up on the Lloyds app.." What?! The Halifax app is supposedly disappearing on 31 October (or soon after).

I have both Halifax and Lloyds apps at the moment, and also have a Lloyds CC. On both apps I can see both cards, but only the Halifax app shows me the cashback section - it is very frustrating.

Has anyone else noticed that? Any workarounds to get the cashback on the Lloyds app?

I had the same problem buying an online item back in the UK, so it is not related to being abroad as I first thought.

I checked the Lloyds app settings and the notifications were switched off- must have happened in the transition, so maybe that was the problem. I have not actually bought anything since so do not know if it has worked or not.

When I transitioned to the Lloyds app, the Halifax one stopped working ( or disappeared, I can not remember exactly) .

  • I can access cashback through the rewards button, currently around 64 places to earn cashback

But are you earning cashback through the Halifax Clarity CC or with a Lloyds-branded CC?

In my Lloyds app, I can see the cashback section in the "Rewards" space, but it tells me "Earn cashback on everyday spending with an eligible current account or credit card" and then offers me to apply for Lloyds credit cards. So clearly the app thinks I don't yet have an eligible credit card to earn cashback - even though I have made use of it with the Halifax Clarity CC for years now..

  • I only have a Halifax clarity account, and a normal lloyds debit card that doesn't attract cashback.

I've just been in and I can select relevant cashback offers and I can only assume it links it to my Halifax card
