Help 🙏🏻
Hi all, any help much appreciated.
I received a PCN through the post around 2/3 after the incident. I had parked in Bridlington harbour and my brother went to pay for the ticket.
Apparently this ticket was for a different car park (right next to the one I was in, looking back separated by a metal rail as seen in most places!
I appealed and sent a copy of the parking ticket receipt in and heard nothing more from Cumbria Parking Services.
Around 2 months later I received a letter from ZZPS stating I now owe £170. £100 parking fee and £70 admin. They were collecting obo Cumbria parking service. I spoke to someone at ZZPS and stated they couldn’t do anything as they were working for Cumbria Parking Services (CPS)
I then emailed CPS who stated they sent me a letter in response to my email, which I never received. They said if I hadn’t heard in 30 days I should have chased up the outcome and it didn’t matter I received no letter. Why not send it recorded etc?!
Anyway, after quite a rude email back from CPS they said it’s now with Debt Collection company (ZZPS) and I have 2 weeks left to pay.
This to me seems ridiculous as we paid parking in good faith and it obviously wasn’t that well signed as to being the wrong machine paid at!
Any advice would be much appropriate 🙏🏻

Ignore anything from ZZPS - harmless, powerless debt collectors (read NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, post number FOUR about debt collectors).
You’re too late to get anything done with small-fry parking firm Cumbria Parking Services, so, unless you’re able to get the landowner to cancel the ticket, it’s a case of wait to see what CPS (not ZZPS) does next.
Come back on this thread should you receive a Letter of Claim from any legal firm representing CPS, or an actual claim form from the Northampton County Court Business Centre.
Important - should you move house in the next 6 years, you must give the new address to CPS, as a court claim issued to an old address is almost guaranteed to end in a CCJ.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Thanks. What are the likely next steps from CPS if I ignore ZZPS?

A possible LoC from a legal company like Oak Legal, possibly followed by a Money Claim N1SDT pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL to arrive in the post, do not ignore these 2
But you definitely ignore any powerless debt collectors letters

Umkomaas in his post above has outlined what will happen. The 'next steps' won't change whether you ignore OR contact ZZPS.
Did you read NEWBIES post 4 as advised, have a read of post 2 too.

Yep, carry on ignoring

Your redactions aren't fully opaque, you can still see your name, address & VRM through the translucent black!
You should probably also redact the Parking Charge Reference, Account Reference and that QR code too!

And a quick heads up, never ever try and identify the driver, never use terms like I did this, or He/She/mother, Father, Aunt, Friend and so on, this becomes even more important if the land is under what is known as statutory control ( such as airports/harbours etc)
you always refer to it as the car was parked, or the car did this that or the other
