Botched roofing job but the roofers have disappeared
I had my roof replaced 2 years ago and everything was fine, but last week my neighbour had someone round to do there windows and they saw a tile slide off the roof. Looking at the front of the roof there are 3 or 4 tiles that appear to be missing from the bottom edge. I have reached out to the roofers but have had no reply, I have looked them up online and it seems their last online presence was December 2024, the same year they did the work for me. What recourse do I have to get the tiles replaced/any other problems fixed?

After 2 years…. none.
Buildings deteriorate over time. It is possible the work was defective, but you'd have no hope proving this so long after work was done on a roof. A trader might offer some kind of goodwill arrangement, but if they aren't trading (or responding) then that seems an unlikely outcome.

Even if they were still trading, they wouldn't come out and fix it for free after all this time. Find another roofer and ask them to fix it. Should be a simple job if it's just a few tiles on the front.

I think this is an easy job that even some windows/gutter cleaners can do when they are around - those who still use ladders.

Thank you, the tiles shattered so I will need to buy replacements, however I would not expect tiles to be coming off the roof after 2 years, the former roof lasted 120 years but needed to be replaced for solar panels

Is it possible the solar panel installers damaged the fallen tiles while on the roof?
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur1 -
This kind of thing is the problem with proving the original work was defective… the more time passes the harder it gets, unless there's something particular or unique about the defects that directly links them to the original trader.

The eaves are especially vulnerable to wind damage, so if they weren't fixed properly they would be likely to come off. You might find you need the eaves fixed properly all the way along. What type of tiles are they?

Also vulnerable to ladders being bashed against them.

just get some quotes - or over the phone quotes and if its not urgent tell them but get a fixed date for them coming - sgould not cost more than 70
or have tiles ready look out for roofers in your area and ask them to come over and have a look - but ALWAYS
seek a firm price befre they start work otherwise you could easily end up paying 2/300 quid for a 50 to 100 job.
