Charge cable query

Just had this from our kid ….. any comments

Just for your info.

• My Acer Aspire 14 AI has a charging cable with a 13A plug on one end, a
  cumbersome transformer thingy halfway along and a USB-C plug on the
  other end.
• My Moto G phone has a about 1 M cable with USB plug on one end and a USB-C
  plug on the other end. There are plenty of USB sockets about these
  days.

Just been away so I thought I’d just take the cable that I use for my
Phone. It plugged into the Laptop normally but the Laptop didn’t like
it, didn’t charge and buzzed at me. Don’t know what the difference is
but it seems as if the Aspire has to have its own cumbersome charging
cable with the transformer halfway along. Now that I’m back home the
Laptop is charging normally with its own cable.

The laptop is looking for a USB PD charger capable of something like 65 watts. The phone charger might manage 15 watts. You can charge the phone from the laptop charger, but not vice-versa.

After 1 laptop brick fail and another laptop's charge socket fail in the last 18 months I'm now using Amazon's 65W chargers with their cables rated the same.
