Ladies old shoe straps broken
This summer I’ve had a couple of pairs of sandals break 😢 The sandals themselves are worth saving so I took them to Timpsons but the chap said unfortunately once a strap has gone from the sole, they can’t be glued back in? He said something about heat activated glue when they’re made or something. I’d like to fix them, but obviously don’t want to put myself in a situation where my sandal breaks when I’m out and about. Any ideas? The professional was of the opinion nothing would hold the straps once they’ve come away. I’m just struggling to believe there’s nothing strong enough! Although I do appreciate shoes are constantly under pressure / stretched when worn.

To be fair it may well go again.. and yes, they were right in what they said.
Never tried it but construction silicone type stuff sticks cement 😲 and would be strong but would it be flexible enough?
If you're going to India or Asia they can fix anything including a gents sandal.
Slightly more flexible are some of the gorilla glues . May give a bit more wear.
What about a saddle shop where they repair hard wearing leather.
Of course where about the strap goes , what it's made of and the colour can affect advice. If you can post a photo that would help.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Photo, RedBallon?
I've carried out a few repairs on sandal straps where they go through the sole, using StixAll.
It does need a contact surface, and they haven't lasted permanently, but usually long enough to see the sandals through some good extra time - a year or more.
