Long-dated Gilts as an investment

I bought two gilts in a SIPP a year ago. I didn't go as long as you are looking at, I bought T46 and TR45. I couldn't make up my mind between traditional and index-linked, so I went for 50/50. I locked in 5.5% to maturity and 2.3% above inflation to maturity.
The traditional one is under water - which doesn't matter if I hold it to maturity. It is still paying 5.3% on the purchase price each year, and will show a capital gain on maturity.
The index-linked one is holding its own, but is paying much less per year, with more of its value being rolled up as gain in the price.
The plan is to hold long-term. If they show a big gain at some point, if interest rates collapse for example, I may sell but otherwise I'll just let them run.

If I buy mine, it will be for a long term hold.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
