WHS have some great offers on stationery at the moment - I bought 20 sheets of brightly coloured card for half price (£1.49) which will make me 40 standard size folded cards. I also bought 4 A4 lever arch files for 50p each (used for my hubby's business), plus I got an A4 pad of really lovely thick watercolour paper for £2.49 - also half price. I use this to create my own 'watercolour' pictures with watercolour pencils. Worth taking a look as WHS are normally really expensive.

I have used ebay for craft stuff but generally don't find it that good value - I have bought mulberry paper and metallic paper from there, and little beads, but I do think it is easy to pay over the top.

PS - I have also got into tea-bag folding since seeing the website and printing off some of the designs. I also ordered a book from the library with step by step diagrams, and have been using my patterned origami paper. The black and white ones are particularly successful - not so twee!
  • Just been in poundland today and they have some cool toppers in various designs. Really cute.
    They are called handcrafted stickers.

This is a good website Do crafts they have loads of projects and you can sign up to a newsletter that tells you where and when there are special offers on there products.

With a heat gun I would think very carefully before buying one. I have one bought it on special offer and I have used it only a fews times as I find it messy and I prefer other methods of making cards to embossing.

  • Just an update, I have discovered more confetti in tesco. There is a large choice covering lots of occasions. I got some brilliant little ballon shaped ones. All 98p.
  • Poundworld doing some beautiful card toppers, seen not as nice ones in hobbycraft twice the price for half the amount.

wow, you guys have really got me inspired!

Two questions:1. please tell me, do any of you make any money by selling the cards you make, or just save by making your own cards? i am thinking of trying to put some of my designs up on Ebay but is this a waste of time? There seem to be so may out there.

    2. I would be really interested to know which cardmaking books you would recommend - I'm relatively new to this, and I'm not even sure what embossing powder is!

    thanks a million,
    Aloise

Steer clear of an internet company called 'Rugby crafts' or ' Amethyst crafts'.

They have some ' great ' deals on at the moment, however I placed an order on 01 January and received less than half my order on 16 January, a couple more items on 24 January but to date I still have stuff outstanding. They take your orders but don't tell you that none of it is in stock. They are rude when you ring up, don't reply to emails and lie to you when they do- ' yes madam all your items have been sent now' when they haven't! I have grown tired of waiting so asked for a refund- they said I have to wait 30days for that!! So please be careful.
