Faulty goods, s75 Lloyds and repair quotes

Product is over 6 months old. You should know that a independent report is required.
Bank is looking at this from the point of view is it cost effective to repair.

From reading the OP it’s been inspected and the bank are too late to repair, months to fix a tumble dryer would go beyond reasonable time and significant inconvenience, and even if one were to argue it doesn’t we both know the bank doesn’t want to argue about that in court.
If they had started by saying they’ll repair it that would be fine but even then getting quotes is nothing to do with the OP, the regs don’t offer a remedy of a part refund for repair, they require the goods to actually be repaired. 🙂

From my reading of the OP - the unit has had a look over by an engineer who was looking at something else and has given his opinion - possibly only verbally
The supplier has also sent an engineer who has looked at it and again given a verbal diagnosis
Possibly the bank are asking for something in writing to confirm this - the seller may not be willing to share their engineers report and therefore the bank need someone to state the unit is broken or beyond repair.
OP can you clarify whether you have sent the engineers report to the Bank - or even have anything in writing confirming that the machine is broken due to an inherent fault and cannot be repaired economically?

I have sent an independent report of the fault to both the retailer (ignored) and included this in the section 75 claim. The independent engineer that attended for something else and had an initial look re-attended and provided a formal report when I wasn’t getting anywhere with the retailer as I knew I’d need this. The bank have had all this information for at this point, months. I do not have a copy of the manufacturers appointed engineers report as they refuse to provide me that information and I haven’t gone down the route of making a SAR.

The engineer's report should have stated the repair costs

In this case I think I would raise a formal complaint with the bank to state that you have evidence that the item is not fit for purpose and that the delay to the process is unacceptable - if they wish to inspect the machine to determine if it can be repaired then that is upon them to do - not you.

I get the complaint on time taken on delay. But bank will not inspect machine, it is up to customer to prover their case, not bank to disprove. 👍
