Parking and not charging

I recently got a ticket for parking but not charging in a charging bay. The charger was broken. I called the number and they said it was broken and wouldnt be fixed that day.

I didnt leave the cable in.

This is in scotland.

My appeal was rejected as apparently it stops other people using the charger (which seems crazy as it is out of service).

Attached is the only signage.

Is this worth taking to POPLA?

When you found out it was not working did you move to a normal parking space to go in store?

I didnt no. I should have done obviously but after unloading 3 kids from the car I decided not to. I reasoned, obviously wrongly, no sane person would be upset that the car wasnt charging if there is no charger to facilitate charging.
Its a council car park, rather than a store.

  • POPLA is for tickets issued on private land, so not relevant here.

The Notice of Rejection will provide you with details of how to appeal to the Tribunal and a PIN number that will allow you to submit your appeal using the online portal or requesting an appeal form.

I'd suggest that you try to get written proof that the charger wasn't working on that day.

When you read the NEWBIE sticky, did you see the item about Scotland? Read it and then make sure you never tell anyone who was driving.

Also, if this is council, check out: -

Since we concentrate on parking charge notices from unregulated private parking companies, you would be better off taking this over to our friends on https://ftla.uk (the forum started to replace Pepipoo), as they are the experts on council and police issues.
You will need register before reading the FAQs, then posting both sides of your PCN with your query.
