Air-to-air heat pump
Hello, I am awaiting installation of air-to-air (A2A) heat pump. So just being curious to know if anyone has been using Octopus Cosy tariff for A2A heat pump and if yes, what is the process to switch from Octopus Agile to cosy tariff?
Many thanks for any guidance 🙏
Regards…

I think Octopus Cosy is the name of an-air-water heat pump. Cosy Octopus is the name of a tariff which may be suitable for heat pumps of whatever type. I presume the process to switch tariff is just to call them, or email hello@octopus.energy and tell them you'd like to switch. Why would it be any different?

You just jump on their website and follow the sign me up link: https://octopus.energy/smart/cosy-octopus/
I did it the day after my heat pump was set up, and they applied it same day, back-dated to midnight that morning. So on the day you want to swap, be mindful of the cheaper windows - I wound up getting some day-rate charges as my battery was charging in the agile low points.
I jumped because agile got pretty high mid Aug and stayed there, but its been more favourable the past few days with several negative windows. I'm in two minds about switching back so holding off and observing.0 -
It isn't restricted to just wet ASHP - includes electric boilers , radiators etc - so don't see why A2A shouldnt qualify.
I'd take that as hopefully any non ALCS non night storage type electric heating - they have their Snug special for that - including A2A - but I suppose you should really call and check.
And note the website says you dont have to wait until installed
"You need a heat pump, electric radiator or electric boiler to be eligible for Cosy Octopus, but it doesn’t need to have been installed by us. If you're in the process of getting one installed, you can still switch to Cosy."

I'd just tell them you are awaiting a heat pump installation and not go into details of which type unless they ask. You don't want some telephone operator telling you you are not eligible because it's not written down on their list.

They dont care and dont check, go on their website and switch, job done.
I have both and been using since March, and saying that the only thing I'd consider now are the actual rates - the fixed is very bad - 16p/33p/50p vs E7 rates 32p/13p (possibly cheaper elsewhere).
The non-fixed 13/26/40 is much better but really hard to say what the rates will be in January.
