Hi
My BF and I were thinking about goign to my mom's for xmas... it is the only time when i actually visit my family.
Last year I paid 90 quid for my plane ticket return, but their winter timetable is out and they are asking for £250. This is way too much!!! Add to that the price of petrol to get to stansted plus £60 worth of car park. We R Screwed!!!
Any idea? HELP!

Where does she live? I'm it's something to do with France from your user name but are you coming from or going to France? Which airport? Just to see if there are alternative flights or alternative travel, can you go by ferry for example? When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt

How about flying cheap to Spain and then travelling north from there?Proud to have become an Ocean Rower in 2010 (crossed the Atlantic in a crew of 4 ladies and had the best 77 days of my life!)0

I think Midget_Karen has the best idea, you could also try a ferry to Bilbao but it does take hours to get there.
Have you tried other airports in France? You might have to travel further in France but it could still work out cheaper. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt

Start by looking at http://www.skyscanner.net/map which gives a view of all low-cost airports in the area of the Pyrenees, then click on each airport to see if they fly to London - for example Air Berlin flies from Bilbao to London on a Wednesday but the total return fare is currently under £69 - though you'll find a lot of the routes are run by Ryanair.0

Where would you be flying from?
I'd try to get a flight to Biarritz or, preferably, Bordeaux and catch a train from there.
BMIbaby flies to Bordeaux but, apparently, not from London.
As already advised check skyscanner!5p savings box: £01.60
