I need to open a current account to switch into Santander.

Any recommendations for an account that won't trigger a full credit check as it will be closed pretty quickly….

  • Chase are quick to open and no hard search. Be aware, if you close your only current account with Chase, they won't let you open one again. It's simple and instant to open multiple current accounts in the app.

Be careful of opening Chase accounts and then using them for switches. They are issuing warnings to people who do this. You may get away with it once with a warning, after that they can shut down all of your accounts.

Correct. I had a chase in 2022, transferred it out and now it won't give me any option to open an account with them again

Indeed that's because you closed down your final account with them - if you had of opened up multiple accounts, and keep at least one open at all times, then you can keep opening more. Yes, they seem to be cracking down on it as of late but I'm close to 30 accounts opened and switched away, so I dunno how serious they really are despite their warnings.

In lieu of Chase, Monzo/Starling are usually also easy ones to open, and failing that, opening a new account with whoever you bank with as your main account should also work. LBG for example don't perform additional hard searches when you open secondary accounts with them, just don't take the proverbial as they are well documented to take action against people who misuse their systems.

Open up a second account with your usual bank as a dummy account. You already have app access and customer details on their system.

Once switched, use it as a donor switch account again and again.
