Octopus SM2 Elec S with 4 0's then 100 - problem with connecting to EON Next?
Hi
Just switched from Octopus to EON Next. Octopus installed Elec SM2 meter S 00 0000 100 etc; make Toshiba.
I seem to remember reading in this Forum that either the 4 0's and/or the 100 caused some sort of problem for some other suppliers connecting. Tried to find the thread but failed.
Am I making this up or is it actually the problem? Gas meter is connecting fine to EON Next and they have a (correct) reading.
Thanks for help.

Thers a thread - more than one - on Octopus to EOn Next specific issues.
MHHS (Half Hourly Settlement) apparently it has been reported by some screwing up ability to get readings on Octopus to EOn transfers - here.isone post referring to even a group

perhaps check that whole mse thread out as a possibility for similar symptoms,.
PS The Toshiba sounds maybe more like the Comms Hub maunfacturer - they do 3 cellular region models sku1 mayve most common, sku2 and sku3. bit at the top with things like HAN, WAN etc leds etc flashing etc, than the meter below it with the actual reading.
See photos here of comms hub and the mounting on top of a edmi meter for them

look tor Landis+Gyr, Kaifa, Aclara, EDMI type name (just some sm2 meter manufacturer names) and model numbers on lower half of comnpbined unit - with the lcd reading panel and often user buttons..

I'm with Eon Next. My supply number back in 2020 began S 01 801 100.
In February 2024 it changed to S 1 900 100
By June 2024 it had become S 1 900 180
In February 2026 it became S 01 0393 180
In June 2026 it became S 00 0000 180
It hasn't yet changed again.

There are reports PC 00 is now also and the full 00 0000 is associated with meters registered under MHHS for domestic meters.
EOn switched mine in March this year - and I'm still - for now - conventional multirate twin register billed. And so was Profile class 02.
I'd have to trawl back through emails to work out when I gave them permission to do so - they asked about MHHS as wasnt registered for billing use - I am now for both - but suspect many months before.
And that also appears to be the reason some are suggesting others having issues with Octopus to EOn in last few months in particular.

@Scot_39
Thanks for reply. You are correct - Toshiba is the comms hub that sits on top. (I live in S Wales and had a weak O2 signal - which Octopus boosted by fitting something or other that can link with other SM2s signals (I think).
Looking at it again not sure what make it is - KAIFA? All 5 green lights are doing their synchronised 5 sec flashing. Am a home consumer and not a business and don't have solar panels. Luckily it isn't too bad taking manual readings but very glad the gas meter is connected as that is a pain!
@Reed_Richards Thanks too. I assume though that EON Next was your supplier throughout the changes?

Ok, chances are thats a mesh version of their hub from your description.
And 5s flash is a good sign - its the healthy and connected state.
Mesh operates like a relay system, it allows meters to talk via other meters to the 02 cellular network and so dcc network that suppliers use to collect readings.
You could try one of the apps like Bright who will try over same dcc network link, but if EOn getting smart gas data- that suggests but doesnt prove your electric may be getting out too.
Yes Kaifa models like MA120 or MA120B (5 port for e7 restricted) are not uncommon from Octopus..
It sounds like if been a while aftef switch to / at EOn you might be in the same MHHS bind as others - I could be wrong, but dont the other threads talk of some of those have been sorted by manual intervention, but might be getting confused.
Keep nagging EOn if been over a few weeks since switch - if not already go complaintl route and escalate to Ombudsman after 8 weeks.
But it can take a little time for a new supplier - often just days but 1-2 weeks not uncommon stipulation of best lexpected.
But if google the possible time on EOn blog / forums - they talk about anything over 6 weeks needing teams investigation so how recent is ,"just" moved.

This certainly sounds like a CoS (Change of Supplier) hiccup coinciding with MHHS migration that has tripped up quite a few E.on Next customers. When the problem first cropped up back in April, the moderators in the E.on forums offered to have a look at individual cases and kick the appropriate back-room boys (or girls) to get them sorted, so that may still be worth trying. It's usually much quicker than navigating the complaint > failure > Ombudsman route that some have tried. There was an update a couple of weeks ago when they were patting themselves on the back about the migration, so an appeal to the author of the update may work - it's worth trying, at any rate:

If you're asked to post a photo of your meter Meter Configuration Tables v2.0.xlsx0 -
@Reed_Richards Thanks too . I assume though that EON Next was your supplier throughout the changes?
Eon Next was my supplier when all the changes took place, although I had a different supplier from October 2020 to October 2021

Hi all
Thanks especially to @scot_39 - I hope this post and your answer helps others too!
I emailed EON Next at hi@eonnext.com telling them that Octopus fitted 2024, what the S number was and I thought might be a problem with that. Also said I was willing to send photos etc and help in any way. Got a reply yesterday afternoon that meter now communicating as it should.
Still getting annoying pop up on account saying problem with meter connection but hope that will go away in next day or two.
I do hope this helps anybody who is having problems - give EON Next a day or two to reply - or any supplier for that matter.
Thanks again to all who replied - I have been helped more than once with SM2 problems by this forum.
