Positive Sunday vibes to everyone this morning 🌅

yesterday we managed to get all the parts for the plumber next Monday. Unfortunately the parts we had to pay on card, but we have the cash for the plumber which is the majority of the cost for the emergency work.

    Positives:

    • We can pay the parts off from next payday.
    • We had the emergency fund for the first time to cover the labour.
    • It doesn’t land on the credit card this months, it’s actually next month.

What we will do is pay half of it off on payday (ahead of the cycle) and save the other half to start back on the emergency fund.

Our reasoning is that we will then have something there right away if anything pops up, hopefully not!

Things feel in order despite the bump, confident in the plan to get back on track from payday 💪

    Have a lovely weekend everyone!

although the leaking shower is very annoying the way you've dealt with it and the value of having an emergency fund has created a great foundation for your future DFW journey.

  • Thanks @Blackcats as I mentioned it’s really motivated us and feel like we have done it in a sensible way (never normally in my vocabulary!).

Actually excited to get back into the swing of the saving/ driving debt down 💪

Big well done on how you've dealt with the leaking shower, sounds really well thought out.

2 weeks until payday and this is where the fun and games start 😂

My Wife’s engagement ring broke and a diamond was lost, luckily the company I bought it from offer a lifetime warranty and will fix and replace the side diamond that has gone missing in the process, free of charge! The only thing was the £20 postage (that I hadn’t budgeted for and with the emergency fund depleted for the bathroom, it’s now a balancing game).

Not only that, the food/ petrol budget is very low, with about £11 in it.

I have £50 of V*nted balance waiting to come through so as soon as that lands it can go into the food & petrol budget - that alongside the already pretty full fridge/ freezer and the fact I can take home a frozen item from work each day I’m in the office should see us through without a glitch, fingers crossed!

I had budgeted for a haircut before payday but I can survive without that, so that’s £15 back into the pot. Keeping things nice and tight, but two weeks is a pretty long time so it needs a strong captain to keep the ship on course 👨‍✈️🫡

Morning you say you can take something home from work, can you take something that will cover a few meals to help your budget stretch?
Well done on your new mindset, it does take a while to re-set it, but once you do your whole way of life will change for the better. Good luck V x

Great that you have a lifetime warranty on the ring and well done on your sale! Loving the mindset 😊

  • That’s a good idea @vampirotoothus thrre are a few options to pick from each week so I’ll look to pick what can spread out the longest, it has made a difference for sure.

Agreed on the mindset shift, if feels like it’s sticking, however I’m conscious to keep it top of mind so we don't become complacent and let it slip!

  • Thanks @riverbluelion I am very impressed they are fixing and replacing the missing Dimond even under warranty - fantastic company that I will certainly be recommending to friends and family in the future (even more so now!)
