💭 Ramblings

28/09/26 I cried in the shower today, just feeling so overwhelmed and like I’m not keeping on top of anything, worked late last night, overslept so wfh home but was meant to be in the office, had a call asking me to come in, juggling a FT job, and 12 hrs weekly on two part time jobs, my FT doesn’t pay enough for me to get out of debt quickly but I like the environment compared to a more stressful job that would pay more.

I’ve been living with debt anxiety for 3 years, when I became unemployed the same year I got a solo mortgage, it was the first and only time I have ever earned or saved this much. The mortgage process took every penny I had and then I lost the job that gave me the mortgage affordability - life.

I starting tracking my net worth 2 years ago when I got back into work, it was at -£21k, but I think it was higher than that, I was too embarrassed and overwhelmed by it all so logged the worse ones only and was paying the smaller ones off without including it in the number, plus I got into arrears with my currently bills while unemployed, so honestly I don’t actually know how much debt I started with.

I’m really not happy with where I’m at, which is why I’m here, pulling myself up by the bootstraps. I also need a higher paying job, my FT and PT is still less than I was earning when I got the mortgage. However if I wasn’t in debt I’d be happy at this FT workplace.

Anyways I’m here now, counting EVERY NUMBER, maxing repayments, being honest about where I am and asking for help from my bill providers as soon as its needed and Stepchange.

I’m so glad I found this space, I really wanted somewhere where I could share without feeling judged, embarrassed, like it could be used against me or I was burdening someone, but also be able to celebrate the small wins without the shame of the principle of the situation.
