That's what I was worried about but I'm not near assessment period end. I sent the money in accounts off to them. Just to get it over with. Would have to see what they say. Got really stressed about it last night and just ended up taking meds and trying to go to bed so sorry if I replied late.

Haven't taken a snapshot though. But I'll see if they need them or not. I hope not.

    Minus all benefit payments btw?

They are income in the assessment period they are received, so cannot also be classed as capital during same.

The technicalities of exactly how to work out it have been discussed on this board and nobody really knows definitively - not even DWP. The method of minusing all benefits payments received in that AP on the date you report is a method that - so far - DWP have accepted when people have had to challenge them on incorrect decisions (such as during a review). Their default is just to total everything up but that's definitely wrong because as already said, income in that period cannot also be classed as capital at the same time.

(I'll amend my previous post in case it wasn't as clear as intended.)

Following from Spoonie's point on income in the month not counting towards capital. If you are confused and want to avoid any issues or calculation complication with UC…. simply maintain totals a few hundred or more below £6k total when all is added up. Only declare savings if it goes above £6k at end assessment period (caveat you may still be below 6k due to income deductions that should be made) or they ask for updated figure.
