Return to E.on after 2 years, account still active
I'm not sure if this is a problem or not, but after moving from Octopus to E.On on Saturday and E.on confirming etc, they say to get online with an account etc.
When I did that by following their link, they said I was already registered etc. So I did a password reset etc and logged on; but rather than seeing a new/blank record and being abe to put in the initial reading I see all my old/previous transactions up to Sept 2024 (when I left for Octopus). The balance hasn't increased and shows their paying back my then credit balance. So it's showing zero balance, but it's also showing an alert saying they've had no readings for 754 days!
Has anyone else had this situation? I would've thought the account would have been fully closed within the last two years and I'd be starting afresh. My concern is that if I put a reading in as the opener, it MAY generate a 754 day bill in response!!! Hopefully I'm wrong, but thought I'd ask! Thank you!

Yes, that's quite normal for E.On Next. They do hold on to historical details but it won't generate a catch up bill.

If switch back to Octopus Energy at a later date likely to be the same if the same email address is used.

Just changed back to Outfox Energy from Fuse has taken a whole month to sort out. They were using meter numbers that were incorrect (meter had been changed twice in the intervening few years). Just double check all the numbers are correct, they are receiving meter readings assuming smart meters chase them with all the correct information and then wait a month it will no doubt take them that lenbth of time to sort.
Assuming meters are all the same it will probably go through without issue but keep a note of meter readings on the appropriate billing days.

Thanks all, for confirming this is the norm. I will obviously take a photo of all the meter reads as always.

I had the same experience with this supplier last month. It was a little flaky for a few days, wouldn't let me enter the opening reads (as they were quite varied from 2024!). In the end I phoned them in, some kind of automated service, but soon after I was also able to submit them successfully via the app.

The day I signed up there was a bill in my account for £0 with the previous closing payment shown. The payment was showing when it was made but no bill had been produced. Obviously squaring up the account for the next session.
