Life insurance direct debit stops after death
My husband pays his life insurance premiums via monthly direct debit from his own bank account. In the event of his death, the bank would stop all direct debits when notified that he had died. This would void his life insurance policy. So should i delay telling the bank until after the policy paid out?
Or should he be paying the insurance premiums from our joint account, as this would not be frozen when the bank was notified of his death?

If he has died, the policy ends and premiums would cease, so the bank refusing a direct debit would not void the policy. Just make sure you inform the insurers at the same time as everyone else.

Is this a policy on his life alone or one that pays out on the second death? If the former then no problem as already stated no premiums will be due after he has died, if the latter then best to pay the premiums from your joint account.

This is a policy on his life alone. Thanks for all your replies.
