Thanks for the start Gers.

It's a bit murky out this morning but could brighten up, hope so.

Lots of money spent yesterday sadly, filled the car up with fuel and visited Costco, stocked up on a few things and got a couple of Christmas presents so not all bad. It was really busy, I was glad to leave!

Didn't do much when I got home, had an attack of lethargy!

Another week at work beckons, wonder if I'll hear anything about the restructure.

It's fairly bright here, but I don't know the forecast. Yesterday's forecast was dire but it didn't turn out too badly in the end.

YL, I remember those little cylinders whizzing about in big department stores - as a child I used to be fascinated by them.

Dp1, you and granddaughter seemed to have a lovely day, that's good to hear.

Your allotment has done well Camelot, you must have green fingers.

We don't seem to have heard from RosyRed or Mehefin for a while, hope they're all right.

The evenings are" putting in" as they say here, we need the lights on so early now.

Morning everyone,

It is looking lovely out at the moment, a golden light coming through the leaves.

For some reason I am feeling unsettled this morning, no reason for it, so I will give myself a calm morning (no reading of news) and then go and visit mum this afternoon.

Camelot, that is good to have got a head start on gift buying for Christmas. I was thinking yesterday of buying a couple of bits for my great niece and nephew. Also, I need to start saving for Christmas cards and stamps as I cannot believe how expensive it has become, I only send a few cards now due to the expense.

SR, yes the nights are definitely getting darker earlier now, we replaced our spring/summer voile with our autumn/winter curtains the other day so it is nice to draw them and shut out the dark. It is nice seeing the berries coming on the holly and hawthorn trees.

A simple, easy tea for tonight of sausages and mash.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's nice to have you back with us PEONY.

I think we are forecast a fine and bright day. An improvement on yesterday. We did have a few nice spells of sunshine, until it was all change early evening. The promised thunderstorm finally caught up with us and what a racket. The thunder sounded to be directly above us and the rain hammered down relentlessly. It didn't last too long thankfully but it was dark much earlier. It was such a gloomy miserable evening the blinds were closed much earlier and I resorted to the tea-lights and twinkling lights to cheer the house up a bit. Hopefully it was just a one off as they don't usually come out until clock change time!

No plans for today, a day of same old same old. Of course housework is never far away if I get bored.. No cooking to do, plenty of yesterday's small gammon joint left, as well as leftover veg to warm up.

Morning all

Weather is saying it's going to be dry today so am planning to be in the garden and give it a good tidy up. Some pot plants didn't survive the searing heat so they will be brown binned. That dratted wind is still around though.

I've accidentally clicked on italics and can't get it back to normal so apologies for that!

Curry for dinner so will see what the quality of the chicken is that I got delivered online but apart from that a quiet day here. Oh italics have gone? Weird

Good morning

After a night of rain the sun is shining, don't know how long for. I was going to pop to As*a today for petrol, but the only road there is prone to flooding, so I think I'll leave it until later in the week if it stays dry. They were offering me £5 off a £35 shop which was tempting, but there's nothing we really need so I would have been buying for the sake of it. Saved me money.

Chicken drumsticks out of the freezer defrosting for tea, will decide what to do with them later.

Morning all - my table light is on too, things may brighten up later.

Yesterday I was fully occupied in being lazy. First I watched the new episode of Reacher (meh) and then five episodes of NCIS LA from my recorder, there was a story arc which I want to see through. I whizzed through lots of it, adverts and the 'domestic' stuff so it wasn't really five hours.

I've washed my hair and got my coffee. After a bit of browsing I have the weekly spreadsheet to complete, the monthly one will be tomorrow. And I still have to finish off the tax information, after a strong start last week I relapsed into inertia about it.

It's not a public holiday here though the banks are closed, it's an odd one.

It’s nice to see blue sky - the garden is looking so much happier with the rain we’ve had and my chard, which just got to about 3inches high and stopped, has shot up. Yesterday in between showers I detached my strawberry babies from their parents and now have 39 new plants, there are still more runners so I might start off some more. I’m strangely looking forward to being able to do some weeding after weeks of the ground being too hard.

There’s a small gammon joint for the slow cooker so that’ll be easy and make soup for another day too. Yesterday!s leftover curry with a mashed potato topping was great!

I think DM wants to ‘make’ marmalade this morning, (just from a tin) so that’ll involve me getting things ready and probably doing most of it other than stirring- but it’s better than her sitting still.

Morning all. Bright and sunny here atm; we only had a little rain yesterday.

We managed to get out into the garden yesterday and DH deadheaded the buddleia whilst I dealt with the plum tree. There's now a large box of plums to move on to friends today plus lots left on the tree. Think I'll be making plum crumble today plus some spare crumble mix that can live in the freezer. I did also make a marmalade cake so we've something to nibble on.

DH is dancing at a Farm Museum today but I'm going to stay home, as I've been there several times and I have things I can be getting on with here. I've got a pair of trousers I need to try on for length and then try to shorten them neatly plus some knitting wool to sort out.

The evenings are definitely shortening here now. Yesterday I had the light on at 7.30pm, which seems awfully early.
