Good Morning Everyone

Thanks for the start Gers, how lovely of you to take a gift to the pharmacist, bet they really appreciated it.

Yesterday was really warm and sunny, sadly today it's warm and wet! Thankfully all the washing was done yesterday and dried outside, just a couple of things to iron.

There were 3 round courgettes waiting for me at the allotment along with 2 bags full of beans and lots of rather huge potatoes from just 4 plants. I cooked and mashed some of the potato and put it in the freezer along with some small onions that were hiding under the potatoes so the freezer is groaning. I think I may invest in another freezer next year but not sure where I could put it, seems a shame to give away so much produce when I could keep it for the winter months.

Swimming this morning and then a trip to Costco with my pal to fill up with fuel and stock up on a few things, will probably visit HB too for toiletries although I don't think I need very much.

Morning all

I think I’ve been MIA again for a few days, time just seems to run away with me. Mostly taken up with DM, I wouldn’t say she needs ‘care’ as such, depends on your definition I suppose, but certainly needs things fetching and carrying, and an eye kept when she’s moving about.

I’m trying to get some craft stuff done in between; college will probably be in touch when vocational exams start in 5-6 weeks so I’ll have to decide if I can manage that too - the pocket money is useful and it’s a change of scenery but I’m undecided at the moment.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another rubbish night here but I'll say no more about that.

After yesterday's lovely day we had rain overnight. That's now stopped but forecast to return. DGD and the rest of the festival campers will probably be less than Happy Campers this morning I expect!

The only plan for today is this morning's Sainsbobs trip and then probably a Slothful Sunday will follow. Before we go I need to empty the dishwasher which I cba doing last night and put a small gammon joint on to cook whilst I am out. Time permitting I might also prep the veg.

Morning again - upstairs chores done and I'm ready for the day, whatever it brings. Think it could be more slothful although I will probably go through my phone to delete loads and loads of WhatsApp messages, mostly inconsequential stuff but I need to check it all.

After my foray out yesterday I (eventually) topped up the soil in the two outside pots. The big rose has grown through the hole in the base of the pot and into the ground whilst the soil in the pot has sunk. I put in some horse manure pellets in first then lots of fresh soil and water. It's one of those jobs which stares me in the face and yet I still manage to ignore it so I'm glad it's done. Then I rewarded myself with some ice-cream. 🤣

The wee Co-op here has installed self-checkout systems at the end of every unit, one way to solve the lack of staff problem. The original two were right at the top end of the store, furtherest from the door so were hardly used. I always prefer a proper person to work with.

morning everyone thanks for the start Gers your mention of a proper person madede me think I have been watching bookish just found it and I just thought look at them proper shops where someone served you and everything was displayed so you could look and choose properly instead of someone saying we haven’t got your size but you can order it online I’m turning in to a right old biddy when I first left school many moons ago I worked in a department store where you had to learn all your stock and we had drawers of gloves and tights nearby were the handbags that would match people would spend ages trying on gloves now I am showing my age . I’ve got a free hour of electric this morning I’m going to do a wash load cook a small joint and charge a few things up I think the washing will have to go on the airer it’s a damp day but still mild . Camelot I have a small chest freezer in my garage it was supposed to be for Xmas stuff and I would turn it off in the summer that was the plan it’s always full mostly when I’ve made a big pan of stew with bargain veg I put into tubs lots of yellow stickers we will never starve in here . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Sun keeps making a small appearance but expecting a bit of rain later. My bedding on the line should dry before it makes an appearance though

Shopping delivery put away. Found some roast lamb I froze at Easter probably so we are having a nice easy roast today then footie on the box later

Morning all,

I have been reading along, but my energy levels have been so low I haven’t been posting.

It is certainly nice to have some cooler weather, and I am always happy when we get close to September and Autumn.

A quiet day today, like all my days, lol. I have been working on my budget and next will be my menu planning for the month. I am going to try some different recipes as I feel the need for eating something different. I will definitely start making use of the slow cooker again as it allows me to prepare dinner when I have more energy.

Morning everyone

It's pouring here though still warm, it's meant to be better tomorrow and Monday. I had a lovely day out with little one yesterday, we went to the book festival in Edinburgh, had to get the train just after 8am to be there for Julia Donaldson at 10am. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to her , then stood in a long queue to meet her I have a lovely photo of little one deep in conversation about why she called the Gruffalo the Gruffalo.

Outdoor lunch courtesy of Sainsburys, then another author/illustrator and a poet and his illustrator, we thoroughly enjoyed them all and 3 books purchased and signed. It's a lovely way to spend a day, little one asked and answered lots of questions and loved learning how to draw different characters. DD picked us up at the station, both children will be back at teatime until Tuesday morning, little one wants to cook a recipe from her cookery book so it's breaded chicken and Chinese style fried rice for tea. I've jobs to do this morning, then I'll go down to see mam and dad after lunch.

Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers.

Yesterday was a showery day and I think it must have rained overnight too as the ground looks quite wet. Apparently we're under another yellow weather warning for today from 11 am to midnight - so far it's sunny but it is starting to cloud over so maybe they will be right. Hardly any breeze and temperatures around the 20 deg mark.

Yesterday's shopping arrived, all safely put away, but I think I may have been click-happy! It took ages and, once again, the freezer is rammed but the plan is for that little lot to last a month although there will be small top-up shops for milk and other fresh stuff when needed. Today's dinner is pork & apple casserole with potatoes and veg. Apart from making that, I have absolutely nothing planned so will play it by ear as to how I pass the day - well, it is Slothful Sunday!

@TA I'm glad your DGD is enjoying herself at the festival, I doubt she'll mind the wet and mud.

@Gers - I hope your Co-op self-checkout systems work better than ours; there are three (all card payment only) that throw a wobbly on a regular basis so a member of staff invariably has to come to the rescue. I'm sure some people find them useful but, based on the few times I have used them, give me a real person every time.

@Izzy - Ah, the days of shopping before supermarkets arrived on the scene! Do you remember when department stores used the metal cylindrical capsules that took the customer's cash 'up somewhere' via compressed air tubes and returned with change? I think they were called Lamson pneumatic tube systems.
