Anyone mentioned Gilts, specifically low coupon ones in taxable accounts?
TG31 matures 31/07/2031 so just under 5 years. A £100 bond is currently £81.24 so YTM of 4.562%, a running yield of currently 0.3% so little taxable income and the bulk coming tax free just as you want to retire.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can logically see that people are fans of them and why, but despite repeated attempts I just can't get my head around them. And I prefer not to invest in anything which I don't understand!
