Cumbria PS PCN Car Park Keswick
Afternoon all - am familiar enough now with the parking scamponies and their MO of hoping enough victims will be scared into paying to make a quick buck even in hopeless cases they have no intention of taking to a hearing (all thanks to your wonderful work in this forum fighting for the consumer!). Parked at a site where minimum card payment was above the time desired, and the machine would not accept any cash. Rather than waste my time again through the fruitless IPC appeal system or chasing up dozy landowners, is there any better way I could use that same half an hour of my time to contribute in any way to the cause against their antics? Seen about the recent CMA warnings, hopefully a sign of things to come for a PPI/Car Finance-scale crackdown sooner rather than later. Thanks again! Just popping my redacted postal PCN received below hopefully to reassure any other victims finding this thread from a search unlucky enough to have come across the same parking machine.

36 minutes is a long time for the driver to be trying to pay.
Regardless you ignore them unless you receive a Letter of Claim. In this case, complaining to the CMA is probably not a good idea as on the face of it the PCN was issued correctly for non payment of the tariff.
This doesn't mean you pay them of course ;)Always remember to abide by Space Corps Directive 39436175880932/B:
'All nations attending the conference are only allocated one parking space.'

36 minutes is the time between the car being registered and de-registered on the system.
What happened in those 36 minutes is anyone's guess. Keswick is a busy place. You may wait 20 minutes sat in the car until a space becomes available, there could be a one way system which is blocked with other queuing or badly parked vehicles.
Only the OP knows why there was 36 minute period, but other advice to not pay is sound.

The entry capture looks like it was taken from the direction of the A5271 looking into Coleridge Street; based on the pavement texture change and the partially visible manhole cover. From that street there are at least two different car parks that could be entered with different names further down that road, as well as no car park at all. ANPR proving parking is a stretch in the ordinary case but I think it's untenable here.
I don't know what the key is here but the public highways map shows it. The road the vehicle was captured on might also be highway maintainable at public expense.
The actual entrance to the car park looks nothing like the capture. There is a second entrance; similarly implausible.
I'm not 100% sure on where the ANPR capture was taken but it certainly seems like not the entrance of the actual car park. @SwankyKumquat do you know where the captures were taken?
I'm a random person on the internet. I hold no legal qualifications and nothing I say is advice.

On a side note, as a regular Keswick car park user, I recommend either the football club (£4.00 per day-honesty box) or the old railway car park (again, £4.00 per day). Easy walking distance to the centre of town from either.

After messing around with the machine that wouldn't take payment (of which video proof was secured), on a busy day in peak Lake District tourist season time was taken on where we would be able to go next. But point taken & all clear to come back if and when a claim appears in the post.
Yep there are a number of different sections (screenshotted below) signposted as the same "Convention Car Park" that can be all entered from Coleridge Court - what seems to be a public road! Can't seem to place where the shot was taken any better than you've helpfully analysed.

Please can you show us the back of that PCN?
