hi all
I followed the advice on the forum but today received a letter notifying me that the defendant has defended the claim… maybe I’m just unlucky
any advice on what to do now or will I need to probably get my cheque book out

It's confirming that you have defended the claim. You are the defendant. That's why they are not sending you a copy of the defence, but they will be sending one to the claimant.
The next thing you get will be a Directions Questionnaire*
*actually it looks like you're not being sent one but need to download one and file and serve by 14 Sept
Ps put your cheque book away

Nothing wrong here, just follow the 8 steps in the defence template thread in announcements, download the N180 pdf document, fill it in and email it to the DQ email address as a pdf attachment, as per the instructions

See post 1 in the Template defence thread, THE FIRST 8 STEPS:
Step 3 covers the Directions Questionnaire.
